In 2013, responding to the expectations of Alto Mayo, the César Vallejo University inaugurated its academic activities in the city of Moyobamba; initially, serving the services of decentralized classrooms, but still dependent on the management of the Tarapoto campus.

Thanks to the fact that young people found in the university the opportunities they were looking for, including having their own higher education management, offices and classes were implemented gradually, until in 2019, after the corresponding licensing procedures were carried out, the headquarters of Moyobamba receives recognition as an autonomous campus, forming part of the UCV family.
